Black Forrest Gateau is the third in this 5-part Gourmet Cake Class series. You won’t have to travel to the domain of the Brothers Grimm to enjoy all the deliciousness of the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forrest Cherry Gateau.) You’ll create:

  • A Black Magic sponge cake brushed with Kirschwasser (Cherry Schnapps or Cherry Juice Reduction if you prefer to go booze free)

    • leveled and torted and filled with a

  • Boozy (or not) dark Morello Cherry Compote and

    • covered in a a light Kirsch infused Chantilly Cream filling

  • delicious Callebaut Dark Chocolate Shards

    • and topped with

  • Chocolate dipped fresh cherries

You’ll learn how to create the chocolate ‘Bark’ or shards to adorn the side of your cake to resemble the Black Forrest, too!

This class is suitable for the following Dynamic Duo* types:

YES: Parent/Grandparent & Child (This is a full day class and more suited to older children or younger children 8+ with a real interest in baking. The cake can be made without actual Cherry Schnapps if you prefer (we have a Black Cherry extract if you like, but the cake is delicious on its own too.)

YES: Couples (live in the same household)

YES: Friends (you will share all equipment/ingredients for 1 recipe/batch…we let you rock, paper, scissors if the recipe doesn’t divide equally.)

*What is a Dynamic Duo? It’s basically two people sharing the same workstation at no extra charge. You share all equipment and ingredients for a single batch of whatever we’re making that day.

We provide all ingredients, supplies, and tools required for use during each class. Best of all you get to take home whatever tasty treats you make - we provide all boxes/packaging.

This is a full-day class, please wear comfortable shoes (stools will be provided) and have long hair tied back. For the comfort of all our students and staff, we ask that you refrain from wearing perfume or cologne. You may wish to bring a cardigan or sweater as the kitchen is kept at 68F.

To comply with CDC guidelines, all participants are required to wear a face mask (provided) or face shield during class.
