Whole Grain Bread Class

Thursday, March 20, 2025 | 6:00PM - 8:30PM (Includes Lunch)

$169.00 Per Station (Suitable for Dynamic Duos- see below for more details)

Join Guest Chef Alex Peña of Baking Evolution for a hands-on class where we’ll explore the goodness of whole grains in baking! We’ll use a whole wheat dough that’s infused with cracked wheat, giving it extra texture and flavor. In this class, you’ll learn how to make traditional Mexican teleras and savory, stuffed bolillos.

What you’ll make:

Teleras: These are soft, slightly sweet Mexican sandwich rolls with a distinctive shape. Perfect for making sandwiches, teleras are an everyday favorite in Mexico and are a great way to enjoy whole grain baking in a classic form.

Cream Cheese & Jalapeño Bolillos: These whole wheat bolillos are stuffed with a creamy and spicy filling of cream cheese and jalapeños, offering a delicious twist on a traditional roll.

Throughout the class, we’ll also talk about the difference between whole wheat and whole grain, and we’ll take a closer look at the parts of the wheat berry that make whole grain flour so nutritious. By the end of the class, you’ll have a better understanding of whole grains and how to use them in baking, plus two tasty recipes to enjoy at home!

This class is suitable for the following Dynamic Duo* types:

YES: Parent/Grandparent & Child

YES: Couples (live in the same household)

YES: Friends (you will share all equipment/ingredients for 1 recipe/batch…we let you rock, paper, scissors if the recipe doesn’t divide equally.)

*What is a Dynamic Duo? It’s basically two buddies sharing the same workstation at no extra charge. You share all equipment and ingredients for a single batch of whatever we’re making that day. (Don’t worry, we won’t stick you with some random stranger- if you want to fly solo, you’ll have the station (and all the yummy food) all to yourself!)

We provide all ingredients, supplies, and tools required for use during each class. Best of all you get to take home whatever tasty treats you make - we provide all boxes/packaging.

This is a full-day class, please wear comfortable shoes (stools will be provided) and have long hair tied back. For the comfort of all our students and staff, we ask that you refrain from wearing perfume or cologne. You may wish to bring a cardigan or sweater as the kitchen is kept at 68F.
